A Lot of Care and Nurturing For a Rose Bush

Rose bushes require a lot of care and nurturing to produce beautiful flowers. It can often take three to four years before you start to see larger buds on your bushes. To ensure the life of your roses, follow these simple steps.
When first planting a rose bush, be sure to enrich the soil with nutrients. You can do this with a powdered plant food or with plant food sticks. Be sure to “feed” your roses once a month during the first year.
It is important to properly trim a rose bush at the end of the season. Trimming roses allows new stems to grow during the next growing season. If you do not trim your rose bush, it may look quite unique next year. Stems will grow to odd lengths and you may not see any buds.
Many people like to cover their roses for the winter. While this is not completely necessary, it will help promote growth the following year.
